Day 31 & 32. Nordkapp NO. 0 kms.

Location: Skarsvåg, Norway
"What now?"   I am working on some plans

I have achieved my goal.   Maybe over the next few days while I'm at Skarsvag, there will be one midnight of sun at Nordkapp.   Then, I can really say that I have seen the elusive midnight sun.

I am not sure where to from here, but I am thinking of the best way back to The Netherlands.   I have used all my free kms and now they cost 18 c/km.    I still have 2 weeks rental to go, and 3500 kms to ride to Utrecht.

I am having rest days today and tomorrow, just catching up with emails and this blog.  As usual, I have enjoyed preparing the photos most, as it relives the ride.   I can see detail in the photos, instead of just as a passing flash.   I have been fortunate that the roads have not been busy, so I am able to stop and pull-over and take a shot.   The biggest problem is labelling the photos.  "Where was that again?   Not that it matters, I just enjoy the scene.

(I see people at the internet WiFi places with their mini PCs.   I am thankful I brought my big one.)

At the end of the trip, I will need to find "The Money Shot".   Any ideas so far?

I went back to Nordkapp at midnight, but again, no sun, just some more rain.
This morning I went to have a look at Honningsvag and to see about taking a cruise boat.   I was hoping that the bike and I could jump on the boat and go south.  Yes, they will take me and the bike as far as Bergen, Norway, and the cost is about 1500.   This will take 5 days.

I have done my sums on euros and time and I will just ride south.   I have looked at the maps and Sweden or Finland looks good.   Costs will be about the same, but I will be able to ride another country.  Maybe I can go cruising when I get older!

I did my final trip to Nordkapp this afternoon.   It's only 13 kms from my cabin in Skarsvag, but when I arrived, there was a long queue.  Since I had a pass from yesterday, I raced up the coach entrance.   I showed the cashier my receipt and he just waved me through.  Good; that was a quarter of an hour or so saved. I was determined to see some sun up there but the clouds again got in the way again.   That's life.  I did manage to get the photos I wanted, because it wasn't raining.  Hooray.

(It's strange that it can be sunny at Skarsvag and raining 13 kms away.   A bit like Darwin: raining on one side of the street and dry on opposite side.)

Now it's off to dinner.  Salmon again, I think.   I get 2 pieces here.  I will settle the credit card later!
