Day 11. Salzburg AT, to Dolni Brezany, CZ. 437kms.

Location: Prague, Czech Republic

I got up late after the long ride yesterday; (Sunday) of 600 kms.   I didn’t want to hurray out of Salzburg, after waiting 50 years to see it, after “The Sound of Music”, so after packing up I toured the city on the bike.   There was enough traffic to make the ride interesting, but no queues, allowing for quick U turns and taking photos.   The buildings set back against the rock cliffs were interesting.   The photos say it all, I think.

Breakfast was a coffee and a slice of apple tart.   No muffins here in Europe, just cupcakes, but the apple tarts are better.   Maybe a change in lifestyle and eating will be good for me.   Muffins out: Apple tarts in.   I haven’t found a replacement for the Iced Coffee, yet.   Cappuccinos are great, but an Aussie man needs Farmers Union Iced Coffee!   Maybe Farmer Union can enter this market!

The ride to Dolni Brezany, about 20 kms south of Prague, had a variety of roads from autobahns in Germany, to local roads and freeways (Dalnice’s) in the Czech Republic.   It even rained for the last 40kms, so I got to Tony and Mirka’s place looking like a drowned rat.

I was very welcome at their home.

  2. Hi Kirsty.
I didn't have the opportunity to chase this up, but the hills are alive with the sound of music.
    Dad.
