I woke up to an overcast day and couldn't make up my mind whether to ride or have a day off in the Hytte (cabin). The view out the window is just great. But, since I couldn't walk, being overcast and cold, I decided to hit the road.
My fascination with bridges and tunnels seems un-ending. Perhaps it's because there are so many. There doesn't seem to be a problem building a road, just get on with it.
I think that people would be happy to live just about anywhere, as long as there is a good road to get there and out again. This enables the most isolated places to become almost metro. I remember the Darwin to Adelaide road was dirt for 1500 the kms. When it was bitumenised, it became an all season road, and the transport just grew and enabled Darwin to grow rapidly. I drove the 3,300 km Darwin to Adelaide road so often, it lost it's relative distance. Just allocate 3 days and you can get there, in any car or bike. Easy.
I am now over the 69th parallel and there are still big population centres and big industries. All linked by the E6 highway, full of bridges and tunnels. I wonder what I will find at the top of the road at Nordkapp. They say it is desolate. We'll see.
Not long to go now.
